The safety critical worker Medical is a medical assessment where an occupational health assessor will do an in depth examination into your ability to carry out a safety critical role.
This includes a number of things e.g. vision assessment, audiometry, spirometry and physical as well as mental health examinations.
The safety critical Medical can be done by a docotr or trained occupational health assessor. The doctor needs to hold a diploma of occupational health. All of our doctors are GMC registered.
This depends on your age. As a rule it is 3 years up until the age of 54. Between 55-64 it is 2 years. From the age of 65 and above it is yearly. The doctor may need to see you earlier if there is an issue with your medical. They will tell you when this will be the case.
Seldom do we see patients who fail the safety critical medical. The doctor will let you know if there are any issues and will show you what can be done to make you fit, if possible. You can increase your chances of passing by arriving early for your medical, taking your medication regularly and being well rested.

Please bring your driver’s licence / passport for ID, A List of the medication you take, your glasses (both reading and distance) and a urine sample if possible. If all okay you will get a certificate at the time of assessment.
