Walsall Council Taxi Drivers can now request for Simply Medicals to carry out their medicals.

We have been approved to carry out the medical in the event of your GP not being able to carry out.

How can Simply Medicals carry out the medical?

If you are having trouble with organising your medical through your GP then you need to let Walsall Council know. This is usually via email on For more information please visit the council website.

They will then send you an email to say who you can go to on their approved list. Simply Medicals is one of the approved medical providers.

How do I book the Taxi medical?

You must have an email from the council to say uyou are allowed to come to a third party provider who is not your GP. The easiest way to book the medical is online here. What do I need to bring for my Taxi medical?

You need to bring the following:

1) Your full medical records

2) Photo ID (Passport or Driver’s licence)

3) IF you wear glasses then please bring the prescription with you

4) The Medical form (the council will provide this for you) – We have spare forms in case you cannot print it

5) You need to bring the email from the council stating you are allowed to go to an authorised medical provider

How Long Does The Taxi Medical take?

The Taxi Medical takes on average 15 minutes in total.

How Long does the Medical Last?

You need to produce a medical certificate every time you apply for a taxi badge. The form but have been done within 8 weeks of when you apply for the taxi driver licence.
