Have you ever wondered, what does an ADR lorry driver make and what are these lorries used for? If this is something you have been considering, we’ve outlined a few key things you should know about what an ADR driver makes.
What is an ADR Lorry?
Firstly, we should briefly outline what an ADR lorry is. An ADR lorry is a specialist type of lorry designed for moving hazardous goods in bulk loads. ADR lorries can only be driven by qualified ADR lorry drivers, owing to the high level of risk involved with transporting such products. As such, if you intend to become an ADR lorry driver, you’ll need to first spend some time ensuring you’re qualified to do so.
How Much Does an ADR Lorry Driver Make
If you’re planning on becoming an ADR lorry driver, you can generally expect an annual salary in the region of £43,000 and 45,000 per year.
However, it’s worth noting that some people may be able to earn slightly higher than this; for example, if you work for a firm that’s FORS accredited, you could potentially receive additional training and a higher-end rate of pay accordingly. This is slightly higher than the average pay for more standard lorry drivers; however, the current labour shortages for lorry drivers and trucking could push the pay higher still.
